I built a boat over the last three weeks,
David Beede's Summer Breeze
Here are the sides being glued after cutting in our basement:

Here it is coming together...

Another shot just before putting the bottom on:

And the "finished" boat at my parents' house (still needs inwales, paint and some tweaking, but it's now essentially together, epoxied, and ready to float).

A close-up of the kick-up rudder and the transom
And several views of the maiden voyage on Lake Lanier:

Just noticed your Smmer Breeze hanging in a rafter in your AF4 photos. I am considering the SUmmer Breeze because I have exactly two sheets of ply, some lumber and glue. What do you think of the design? Good first build?
I love the design and it wasn't too hard for a first build. I'm consistently impressed with how well it sails and rows (and I'm a newbie at both, so if I can get it to do decently I figure it's pretty forgiving). Were I doing it again I've thought about making less rocker--or at least more gentle rocker--from the midpoint to the transom, but given it performs so well, maybe I should leave well enough alone!
